Welcome!

I’m Nyx! I’m a knitwear designer, working under the alias Not Available. I attended Parsons the New School for Design in NYC from 2012-2015 studying fashion design and later transferred to College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Within my working career I have spent majority of the time working in industrial manufacturing and bespoke freelance jobs developing my skills as a maker and independent designer.

My inspiration includes the narrative of a kitsune, a masked trickster. A costume in which I go out and iterate depending on the events and stories I wish to tell through personal brand narrative. Creating a folklore of myself within the city streets and underground of Detroit culture. Which music and the underground communities of the city inspires me the most. These movements of creation and drive push my personal work forward.

I have also attended College for Creative Studies in Color, Material, and Finish Design. To expand further on my knowledge and my love of textiles. I am currently in the process of developing my thesis project. Within this project I will be designing new material futures for technical textiles and bio-design, utilizing 3D knitting or additive manufacturing processes. Within this project I plan to unify Detroit communities within universal and sustainable design practices. I am currently on a brief hiatus with my masters studies and hope to continue next year at U of M Stamps with a Master of Desgin.
